ANDREW DUN _______________________________ COLIBRI ‘Chopin, a hummingbird hovering over the abyss.’ Baudelaire What use after ceasing, the polonaise, transparent staircase of melody upward, skill of wing muscles in mortal fingers, the hovering rainbow of the colibri lighting the gulf with a pure act of faith, incredibly occupying timelessness while the deathworm
eats the lungs from inside, the grave mother sings her terrible
nocturne, dreadful
lullaby of the final descent? Faintly the monstrous odour of hospitals mingles with
the fragrance of the mazurkas. Essence has taken flight in the
direction of origin, carrying with
it a destiny of music. AIDAN ANDREW DUN The Writers Post & literature-in-translation, founded
