JOHN TZIKAS
___________________________________________ a
poem by JOHN TZIKAS THERE COMES
A TIME (CHANGE THE WORLD) I’m not trying to change the world I know the horrors of compromise I’m not here to speak your mind But there comes a time The annihilator looks through the
chain linked fence Praising the bravery of the fallen
side I’m not trying to move your feet I’m not saying you have no rhythm I don’t pretend to speak for everyone But there comes a time When you have to dance on potholes in
the street When you must move to someone else’s
good vibes I’m not trying to change the world I know the horrors of
being compromised I’m not here to cover your eyes Because there comes a time The annihilated look at the kingdom
through the chain linked fence With pity for the winning side If it takes a lifetime to write a
poem And I write three a day Then you haven’t lived a poets’ life And there comes a time That mangled bodies of words make
perfect sense War is ugly, we write just because we
can write I’m not trying to change the world I know about the horrors of no
compromise New generations don’t build chain
linked fences There just comes a time They make new annihilation theories They change the world, by letting the
past die JOHN
